Comit’s 2016: A Year in Review

Comit’s 2016: A Year in Review

Here at Comit, we’re in slight disbelief that the year has come to a close already. It seems like only yesterday that we were flicking through our 2016 year planner, thinking how far-off even February seemed, let alone December. But with so much happening in the technology world, it’s not surprising that 2016 was a busy – and great – one for us. In fact, it has been our most successful business year date. To give you an idea of what we have been up to (and to jog our own memories), here is a little taste of what the Comit team was up to in 2016.

New clients

Being tech PR specialists, we get to work alongside some of Ireland’s most cutting-edge technology companies. And in 2016, we started working with a number of exciting indigenous and global enterprises, including Comtrade Digital Services, Equinix and Asset Management Ireland (AMI). Keep an eye out for some very exciting news from them in 2017 as we continue to boost their profiles!

New member of the team

We didn’t just gain new clients in 2016, we also gained a very valuable member of the Comit team – the lovely Eoin McGinley. A PR supremo and an all-round cool cat, he has been a brilliant addition to the Comit family.

Headline acts

Our clients never fail to impress us and we’d be here until December 2017 if we listed everything they have achieved in the past 12 months. So, here’s a little snapshot of how a few of our clients made headlines in 2016.

Louise Phelan of PayPal takes Taoiseach Enda Kenny on a tour of PayPal's Dundalk office

HBAN announces its 48-hour drive to raise €6M in start-up funding as part of its Business Angel Roadshow

Ricoh Ireland unveils its new state-of-the-art Document Services Centre

Tech Excellence Awards

We had an impressive six clients nominated at this year’s Tech Excellence Awards – the biggest tech awards event of the year. Fastcom, Equinix, Data Solutions, Ward Solutions, EMIT and Comtrade were all nominated for the pioneering work they’re doing in their fields. And, we were delighted to have four winners on the night. Fastcom won SME project of the year for its work with Smyths Toys, Equinix was awarded data centre of the year, Data Solutions was named specialist distributor of the year and Ward Solutions won managed service company of the year.

Celebrating 10 years with Data Solutions

We like long-term relationships in Comit. So, we are delighted to be celebrating 10 years doing tech PR for our client Data Solutions, who themselves marked 25 years in business in 2016. Here’s to another decade of great stories to tell!

The Data Solutions team was victorious at the Tech Excellence Awards 2016

We are also thrilled to be celebrating the fact that cloud and communications specialist, Strencom, has been a customer for 11 of the past 12 years.

Two weddings

With so much tech PR going on, you might wonder what else we do with ourselves in Comit. Well, we get married. Two members of our team – that’s two-fifths of the office – got married two weeks apart from each other this year. Helen (now Mrs Husky) married Mason in August and two weeks later, Eoin (still Mr McGinley) tied the knot to the very lovely Becky.

Becky and Eoin tied the knot at Mussenden Temple, Co. Derry.

Helen and Mason got hitched at Killashee House, Co. Kildare.

Can 2017 possibly match this year for excitement? Who knows, but it is definitely going to be fun.
