Beaming sunshine, bright t-shirts and throngs of active techies - it can only mean one thing; its the annual Techies4TempleStreet treasure trail! Bigger and better than ever before, the fourth year of the event saw 186 teams and over 1,500 members of the Irish tech and business communities come together to raise funds for Temple Street Children’s University Hospital in a fun and innovative way.

This year, Comit joined forces with a few of our clients (Ricoh Ireland, Equinix and Envisage Cloud) to take on a number of exciting challenges.

Starting at the Aviva Stadium, teams spread out across the city to unlock challenges, participate in physical activities and test their knowledge, all in the hope of being crowned Ireland’s Smartest Techies. While we didn’t take the title home (spoiler!), there’s no doubting the tremendous fun every member of the team had on the day.

With the aid of a special map on the dedicated mobile app, we navigated our way through the streets of Dublin, visiting notable landmarks and unlocking pinned activities. Completing these challenges earned the team points to climb up the leader’s table. From Van Gough to Van Morrison, our collective general knowledge was put to the test and likewise our creative juices flowed into picture-perfect photo recreations. Despite the heat, we just managed to keep our cool and see off the most bothersome brain teasers.

While clocking up the steps, the Comit collective was sure to reward itself with some well-earned beverages along the way! Luckily for us, the fantastic organisers were on the same page and every participant returned to the Aviva for a burger, some beers and a big celebration at the end of the day.

Despite the fact that only one team could be crowned the winner, everyone present was proud of their contribution to a fantastic cause. Techies4TempleStreet 2018 raised a record-breaking €240K for Temple Street Children’s Hospital; these funds will be used to provide lifesaving equipment and services to support the 148,000 sick children that visit Temple Street each year.

This is the second year Comit has participated in T4TS, contributing over €5,000 to the cause to date. We’d like to send a huge thanks to all those who donated to our team and to those who participated on the day. Techies4TempleStreet combines fundraising and fun like no other event in the tech calendar. If you’d like to find out more, check out http://www.techies4templestreet.ie/
